Resin Bound Surfacing?
Resin Bound surfacing has witnessed a notable rise in popularity within the UK, with an increasing presence in the market over the past five years. This system, which has been successfully utilized in various European countries such as Belgium and Germany for nearly 15 years, is now being recognized for its remarkable benefits in the UK.
The popularity of this surfacing has been primarily driven by its permeability and adherence to the SUDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems) regulations implemented in October 2008. These regulations aim to mitigate localized flooding by prohibiting the installation of non-permeable surfaces in areas that were previously permeable, such as lawns being replaced by concrete block paving. By allowing water to permeate into the water table rather than overwhelming highway drains, this surfacing helps alleviate the significant impact of water runoff on the highway systems.
To comply with regulations regarding surface water discharge onto public highways, obtaining planning permission from the local authority is highly unlikely. Therefore, it becomes necessary to manage your own surface water through drainage solutions or the installation of a fully permeable surface.
